Oracle of the west
I’ve traveled long for this request
So please do not refuse
For humbly I come to you
I contend
I have failed again
And again
It seems I’ve come to the limit of what man can withstand
And I tried.
But it was no short pain this time!
I gave it my all and i crawled on my knees
My failure prolonged through the passage of weeks
Erupted on Monday like a lepers disease
It has ravaged my mind to know such defeat
So please
You,
Great mystic
who all has foreseen,
The crumbling of nations
And rising tides of the sea
You,
Who have all the answers
Conjured down from the stars
I am begging
You,
Please give me them all
Enlighten my spirit,
Make silent my regret
Teach me
So I may never fail again!
The oracle looked down on the mountain
And up to the falling snow
Peered into the statue in shambles before them
They began to speak:
Wayward child of mine
You are not a God
Just as the sweet wine and vinegar are one
So too will failure to a mortal life come
But so long as you win more than you lose
That is the future you should want to choose
Dissatisfied?
Wailing praying child of mine
Tell this not to my masters in Rome
But a sneaking secret before you must go:
Calm your suffering psychic drone
Recognize,
That I am no divine
For I am only right one thousand times
Because I’ve been wrong ten thousand more!
Recognize,
That I am no divine
For I am only right one thousand times
Because I’ve been wrong ten thousand more!
